Two-time McCaw Cup champion and OUA All-Star sets sights on PWHL

TORONTO / MIAMI / NEW YORK — Tonbara Sports & Entertainment is pleased to announce the signing of Maddy Walsh, a defender with her sights set on the PWHL.

Walsh, a native of Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia, brings five years of OUA experience and professional playing time in Germany. Most recently, she played for Eisbären Juniors Berlin in the Deutsche Fraueneishockey-Liga (DFEL), Germany's top women's hockey league.

At the University of Toronto, Walsh won back-to-back McCaw Cup championships while recording four goals and 19 points in 60 regular-season games across three seasons. After completing her undergraduate degree, she transferred to Brock University to pursue a Master's degree in Kinesiology.

The move proved fruitful on the ice — Walsh was named an OUA Second Team All-Star in 2023-24 after tying for the team lead in both goals (seven) and points (13). Her signature moment came in a 3-1 victory over her former team, Toronto, where she scored two goals, including the game-winner.

In her final OUA season, Walsh led Brock in assists (11) and tied for the team lead in points (14), recording a six-game point streak early in the campaign.

Before university, Walsh represented Nova Scotia at the 2019 Canada Winter Games and earned multiple Athlete of the Week honours in hockey at the high school level.
