Five-year Hockey East competitor ready for professional hockey

TORONTO / MIAMI / NEW YORK — Tonbara Sports & Entertainment is pleased to announce the signing of defender Madison Michals, who recently completed a five-year NCAA career in Hockey East and is ready for professional hockey.

Michals, a native of Needham, Massachusetts, played her collegiate hockey at three Hockey East institutions, gaining experience at Boston University, the College of the Holy Cross, and Merrimack College. She completed her graduate studies at Merrimack in 2025-26.

Across more than 100 career games in one of the nation's toughest conferences, Michals developed into a reliable two-way defender ready to contribute at the professional level. At Holy Cross, she tied for sixth in program history at the time of her graduation and earned Hockey East All-Academic honors in 2024-25. She recorded a career-high two assists in a 4-1 victory over Boston College.

Before college, Michals was a standout at Noble and Greenough, where she won an ISL championship. She also captured a state championship with the East Coast Wizards.

Hockey runs deep in the Michals family. Her father, Jim, played college hockey at UConn and Babson between 1984-89, and her grandfather, Bernie Michals, is a Massachusetts Hockey Hall of Famer who played professionally for the Lake Placid Romers.
