Tonbara Sports & Entertainment Signs Nipissing Goaltender Alexandra Lehmann

Swiss national champion and two-time World Championship participant joins the hockey division

TORONTO / MIAMI / NEW YORK — Tonbara Sports & Entertainment is pleased to announce the signing of Alexandra "Allie" Lehmann, a goaltender with the Nipissing University Lakers in the OUA.

Lehmann, a dual Canadian-Swiss citizen from Cecil Lake, British Columbia, brings an international résumé that includes a Swiss National Championship, five seasons of professional hockey in Switzerland, and two IIHF Women's World Championship appearances for Team Switzerland.

In 2020, Lehmann left Carleton University to pursue professional hockey in Europe, joining HC Ladies Lugano in Switzerland's top women's league. In her first season, she posted a 1.34 goals-against average — the second-best in the league — and delivered back-to-back shutouts in the championship finals, helping Lugano clinch the Swiss National Championship.

She went on to play for EV Bomo Thun, which was later integrated into SC Bern Frauen, and most recently for HC Fribourg-Gottéron Ladies before returning to Canada. Throughout her time in Switzerland, Lehmann was a regular invitee to the Swiss Women's National Team, representing her country at the 2022 and 2024 IIHF Women's World Championships.

In November 2024, Lehmann was invited to the Ottawa Charge's PWHL training camp — a major step toward her goal of playing in North America's top professional women's hockey league.

Before her time in Switzerland, Lehmann played two seasons for the Carleton University Ravens (2018-19, 2019-20) and developed at the Purcell Hockey Academy in Kimberley, BC, and the Meijer AAA Academy in Michigan, where she posted a 2.29 goals-against average over 60 appearances.

Off the ice, Lehmann's roots run deep in agriculture. Her family owns a 2,000-acre grain farm in Cecil Lake, and she worked on dairy farms in Switzerland while playing overseas.
